Understanding your OPTIONS

WPC Vinyl (Wood Plastic Composite)

WPC vinyl flooring is known for their ease of installation. They are equipped with a pad pre-attached to the back, making it a great overall product. WPC is softer, warmer, and quieter, but can dent more easily than an SPC.

-locking/floating

-100% waterproof

-rigid and easy to install

-pre-attached pad

-most manufacturers allow installation over specific existing floors

-Because of its thickness, it could hide subfloor imperfections as well as lessen the amount of floor prep needed versus a glue-down vinyl

-easy to maintain

-most do not require acclimation, although we recommend it!

-a little louder than a glue-down vinyl but still quieter than an SPC

- the core is made of recycled wood pulp and plastic composites (making it completely waterproof)

Let's Talk Wear Layer

With any vinyl flooring, the wear layer is one of the most important parts. It's what helps protect the floor from scratches! The thicker the wear layer, the more wear and tear it holds up to. Talk to us about which vinyl type is the best for your installation!

LET'S GET STARTED

SPC Vinyl (Stone Plastic Composite) Flooring

On a SPC vinyl, the core is comprised of natural limestone powder, polyvinyl chloride, and stabilizers (making it completely waterproof). Although it is a rigid core product like the WPC vinyl, it holds up to heavier foot traffic as well as heavy furniture. Because it doesn't require acclimation, this is the best product to use in your vacation home where you may set your A/C to higher/lower temperatures. SPC is harder and very durable as it’s made from stone particles but it is louder and less comfortable than WPC.

-pre-attached pad

-typically a little louder than a WPC or glue-down floor

-great for a vacation/second home

LVP/LVT (Luxury Vinyl Plank/TILE)

LVP/LVT products are what most people know as the general term "vinyl plank". This is a durable flooring option, consisting of multiple layers (including PVC as the main body) with a realistic image, covered by a wear layer bearing a textured surface. We recommend this for concrete foundations ONLY.

-glue-down

-waterproof

-feels more stable under foot

-easy to medium installation

-easy to maintain

-glue-down vinyl is easier to repair/replace versus a locking floor

Are My Floors Really Waterproof?

Waterproof resilient flooring means that the flooring product will not swell or peak when exposed to topical water. It is not intended to perform as a moisture barrier to continuously damp environments. This means that you can wet mop, have spills and messes and your floor will perform for years to come. Warranties will not guard against leaks or acts of God which could harm the integrity of the flooring over long periods of time or create environments for mold to grow. Please refer to the manufactures warranty and installation handbook for more details!
